Seat side service from waiters, full menus to order from while watching the latest movie and even a complimentary blanket to make it a snug night out.

Mizner Park – The downtown area of Boca Raton is filled with stores, food and a great nightlife vibe. Maxes Grille and Uncle Julio’s is a great spot for the active adult to enjoy good food and maybe a drink or two. Concerts are often played in the amphitheater. You can get tickets form the box office or do what a lot of locals choose to do: simply enjoy the sounds while eating at your favorite Mizner Park restaurants. If you would rather take a calming walk while absorbing some great culture, the Boca Raton Museum of Art is your spot. Located on the north side of the Mizner plaza.

Town Center at Boca Raton – Great dining, great shopping and great service. The mall located just east of I95 has a great selection of stores and restaurants to keep you entertained for the day. If you are an avid exerciser, check out their mall walkers club that meets almost every morning before the stores open. Break, coffee and some cardio might be the ticket for you!

Red Reef Park – If you find the lure of the beach too difficult to ignore, go to Red Reef and soak up that sun! A fantastic little beach and park area, Red Reef even has built in grille areas and benches. Might be time to plan a little party and activity for you and all the friends. Enjoy the snorkeling right off the beach as well.

Golfing – There are far too many great golf courses in Boca Raton to list here, but needless to say, they are some of the best courses in South Florida. If you’re looking to get out for the whole day why not get in a few strokes and head back to the club house for food and drinks?

Pros & Cons to Choosing an Active Adult Community

Active adult communities that cater to men and woman over the age of 55 are prevalent in South Florida. Cities like Boynton Beach, Delray Beach and Boca Raton have a high population of active adult communities and it is no surprise why – South Florida is the perfect destination when retiring and looking for an active adult community that has a lot of amenities and is within close proximity to the beach and shopping. Some active adult communities in Boca Raton even have a waiting list for potential new residents. So why are people over the age of 55 choosing to live in these communities as opposed to living in an individual residence? Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons to choosing an active adult community over a regular condo or apartment.

  • Adult Active Community: Lots of people your own age living in these communities. That’s one of the biggest drawing point in adult active communities. A robust social life and a chance to connect with people who enjoy your hobbies, interests and experiences.  A true sense of community. Men and woman from all over the US head down to these cities to find a community of like-minded people.
  • Residence: When you move into a house, you are not sure who your neighbors are or what the community interests and culture is.
  •  Adult Active Community: The Amenities. Most adult active communities have on site amenities like tennis courts, golf courses and swimming pools. For an adult looking for an active life what better option than to have activities right outside your door. And of course, because of Florida’s unique weather, the year round summer, you can expect a great deal of these activity are outdoors. Enjoy your game of golf!
  • Residence: Houses that come with amenities like pools or tennis courts are very expensive, and most houses don’t come with any of those luxuries at all.
  • Adult Active Community: Everything’s maintained but the community staff. There’s no need to wade through the pool to get all the leaves out of the other end or to go out and get another net when your opponents tennis racket goes flying through it. Everything is taken care of for you. Simply enjoy the activity.
  •  Residence: There aren’t any staff members to maintain your residence and help when needed. You have a problem, you have to call someone out and pay for the fix.
  • Adult Active Community: Privacy. Adult active communities are built in safe and accommodating neighborhoods. The communities are walled off to make sure that residents and welcome guests are the only people to have access to the community and the amenities within. You can rest easy knowing that the community is kept private for its members.
  •  Residence: There is less expectancy of privacy in a residence like the privacy you can expect from living in an adult active community.

Moving to Florida can be a difficult transition, if you plan on doing it the right way. Make sure you get in touch with a realtor that understands what your needs are and a realtor with the right kind of experience. If this post has peaked you’re interested in adult active communities it might be time to buy!
